Mood ialah bentuk kata kerja yang menunjukkan cara suatu perbuatan dilakukan


JENIS-JENIS MOOD

1. INDICATIVE MOOD


Indicative Mood adalah bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk:

1. Menunjukkan Kenyataan

  • I sent a letter yesterday
  • They love each other
  • My father usually drinks a cup of coffee before going to work

2. Menyampaikan Pertanyaan

  • Are you an English teacher?
  • Did you come to her party last night?
  • Will you come with me?

3. Menyampaikan Pengandaian Yang Kemungkinan Bisa Terjadi

  • If she calls me, I will come soon
  • She will buy a new car if she wins the lottery

IMPERATIVE MOOD


Yaitu bentuk yang digunakan untuk:

1. Menyampaikan Perintah/Larangan

  • Don't be lazy!
  • Be quiet!

2. Menyampaikan Permintaan

  • Pass me the salt, please?
  • Would like to open the window?

3. Menyampaikan Suatu Ajakan

  • Do come in!
  • Give me five!

4. Menyampaikan Nasihat

  • Try your best!
  • Be careful!

SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD


Yaitu bentuk yang digunakan untuk:

1. Menyatakan Harapan

  • Long live the President!
  • God bless you!

2. Menyampaikan Pengandaian

  • If I were you, I will call her now
  • If you had come earlier, You would not have missed the train
  • I wish I lived in New York
  • If only she had studied hard
  • You talk as though you knew the fact well
  • It looks as if it would rain
  • It's time we started the show
  • I would rather you paid by cash
  • The doctor suggested that the patient take the medicine
  • It is necessary that Mary read his book
